More Sermons Coming Up Soon

April 15th, 2009

I will be taking a large part of my daily duty of doing laundry and putting up a BUNCH of new sermons. Many are on the new series we are working on, pretty much for the rest of the year, the book of James. This series is subtitled “Becoming the Real Deal” and I will have some neat image for our web designer to put up on the home page soon. Also I will be putting up the Easter sermon and I’m sure I have a few others from some series completed in the past months. So you should have plenty of listening to catch up with.

Selfishness to Consistancy

April 15th, 2009

This weekend marked the first time the churches website was hit with a reply. And it was of course just spam. Which hopefully means the website is going some direction and is getting viewed by more people. This past weekend was also Easter and we had 22 people in attendance with us this weekend. I preached on living a life that leads to the imitation of Christ.
I found myself mulling and dwelling on the passages on Peter’s denial and I equate that to our own spiritual walk. Much like a Pharisee we will become very indigant in stating that we would never deny our Lord, but I don’t believe many of us have ever been in a situation where we have had to face persecution. We may be picked on because we chose to be a Christian and live our lives with moral values. However, if we truly focus on our lives I believe we will find something very interesting… We deny Christ almost daily! There I’ve said it. The truth is that we deny Christ when we laugh at an inappropiate joke, we also deny Christ when we develop relationships with the opposite sex that do not glorify our marriages.
I believe the change I’m looking for in my own life is one from selfishness to consistancy. Although right now I am consistantly selfish, and that is the problem. I glorify God when I strive to become like His Son. Christ mode of ministry was servitude, I must become a servant to find that consistancy in my life.
